Preservation Imaging - General Information
The Southern Regional Library Facility's
Preservation Imaging unit provides preservation level microfilming
production and digitization services for libraries and individuals.
SRLF's Preservation Imaging specializes
in reproducing deteriorated textual materials and in preserving
their intellectual content for future use. Information in danger
of loss because it is printed on poor quality paper can be
reproduced on microfilm, thus preserving content and allowing
for continued access.
SRLF's Preservation Imaging performs
original filming, and film to film duplication. SRLF adheres
to the RLG Preservation Microfilming Guidelines, which is analagous
to a national preservation standard.
SRLF's Preservation Imaging unit also
provides scanning services from print originals, microfilm,
microfiche, and other photgraphic images. Scanning from
print originals is available in archival-quality TIFF format,
as well as in smaller file formats that are captured at lower
