SLF-South Fact Sheet
Systemwide Library Facility-South* supports University of California libraries. Phase One was completed in Summer 1987. The first phase consists of a staff/service area and high density book stacks designed to hold 3.5 million volumes. Phase Two includes book and special materials storage in space designed to hold an additional 3.5 million volumes. Construction of Phase Two was completed February 1, 1996.

| Phase One: | 102,839 net assignable square feet 85,860 asf book storage Staff/Service area: two stories in height, 125' wide x 175' long. Second story is the mechanical level. Book storage area: three stories in height, 149' wide x 198' long. |
| Phase Two: | 88,472 asf book storage Book storage area: three stories in height, 149' wide x 198' long. Separate master microfilm and master motion picture vaults (maintained at 45 degrees Fahrenheit and 45% RH). The motion picture vault utilizes movable compact shelving. |
Building Features
| Environment: | 62 +/- 3 degrees Fahrenheit 50% +/- 3 percent relative humidity Sophisticated air filtration to remove particulate matter and sulfur dioxide. Low UV-emission light bulbs are used throughout the book storage areas. |
