Requesting an Item

How to request an item from the SLF-South is determined by an individual’s or institution’s relationship to the SLF-South. Below are the options available to the UCLA & UC community, members of the public, and other libraries & lending institutions.

UCLA Faculty, Staff, Students, & Library Cardholders

  • UCLA Library Cardholders, including ‘Access only’ cardholders, may request an item electronically to be sent to any UCLA Library location through the UC Library Search, by logging into the Request feature under "How to get it".
  • Requests submitted through the UC Library Search before 11 a.m., Monday through Friday, may be picked up at the UCLA Library location of choice after 4 p.m. the same day. Requests submitted after 11 a.m. may be picked up after 4 p.m. on the next working day (M-F).
  • For specific instructions, go to the UCLA Library page, How to Request Items Stored in the SLF-South.
  • UCLA Library Document Delivery Service is a separate service available for a nominal fee, which will copy an article and deliver it directly to you.

UC Faculty, Staff, & Students (other than UCLA)

  • UC Faculty, Staff, and Students, (other than UCLA) may submit requests for loans or document delivery of SLF-South materials via the CDL UC Library Search system, article databases, or through your campus interlibrary loan service. SLF-South might charge a cost recovery fee for service to these institutions, which may or may not be passed along to the patron.
  • To borrow an item from the SLF-South, members of the public with no UC affiliation will need to purchase a library card at one of the main libraries on campus first before coming to the SLF-South. See Visiting On-Site for more information.
  • You as an individual can submit document delivery requests directly to the SLF-South via the UCLA Library Document Delivery service for a cost recovery fee: UCLA Library Document Delivery Service.
